Sonic's Story: Robotnik's Origin

Synopsis of Storyline:
The origin of Dr. Ivo Robotnik is as follows: he was once the esteemed professor Julian Ovi Kintobor, a masterful scientist in the field of robotics and engineering. One day he came across a hurt brown hedgehog lurking in his laboratory for shelter and took him in after the hedgehog took an interest in his inventions. He was named Soren. He became a sort of apprentice, helping him invent many different pieces of equipment with his imaginative ideas, such as: heat and wear resistant sneakers, power grip gloves, and inhibitor rings, golden halo-like bracelets that can amplify one's abilities to incredible levels. The two came across a glowing blue gem buried in the soil near the lab, and discovered that it had incredible amounts of energy. They tracked it back to the legend of the Chaos Emeralds, seven powerful jewels that, when gathered, will grant a miracle to the gatherer of their choosing.

Rather than focus on the wish-granting part, the two began to test the emerald in uses as a battery, which was enough to power an entire half of a country. One day, Kintobor found inscriptions with in the gem's hereditary material, and Soren held the Emerald in his hands. A surge of energy flowed through him and he realized the Emerald had given him enhanced abilities, allowing him to sprint through Kintobor's laboratory like lightning. So Julian then began studying the gem as a power multiplier, but all of his robots could not handle the massive amounts of energy and exploded. Finally, Soren volunteered himself to be the guinea pig, saying that this new energy was revolutionary and that they couldn't stop because they limited themselves to using robotic subjects. Julian was reluctant but knew that he couldn't put off the hedgehog's determination.

The experiment was set up and Soren braced for the impact. The absorption was visibly painful for the hedgehog, but he stood strong and braved the hurt as the energy surged through his entire being. Soon enough, the energy blew the capsule apart and from the smoke emerged Soren, his fur now as blue as the emerald, his eyes emerald green, and his spirit vibrant and powerful. He had received ultra-quick reflexes and could run at incredible speeds, which they put to the test in one of Mobius' incredibly vast valley plains. Soren broke the sound barrier, to which Julian joked that they should start calling him Sonic. Soren actually gave this consideration, but decided against it in the end, saying that he wanted to stay true to himself. After the success of the experiment, Julian and Soren set out in search of the others in hopes of using them to spread power grids across all of Mobius, providing efficient, renewable energy for everyone. Julian discovered that the emerald had two separate energy frequencies, one negative and one positive, the positive being the provider of power and energy, and the negative being what kept the emerald from becoming unstable and overpowered. Julian figured that if he could separate the frequencies, the power of the positive would be magnified even more. Now overconfident in their abilities and estimates, they went ahead quickly with the testing with barely any prior data analysis.

The experiment did not go as planned this time, with Julian monitoring the two capsules meant to contain the negative and positive energy, and Sonic in another capsule to absorb more of the positive energy. But since Sonic had already absorbed Chaos Energy from the first experiment, he did not take in anymore, causing both capsules to overflow with both energies. They flashed threateningly, and Sonic burst out of the tube in attempts to save Julian, but his escaping causes the positive energy to flow back in to the capsule he just escaped. However, the negative continued to fill until it exploded in front of Julian, blowing off his left arm and setting the lab to flame. Soren tried to save him in the destruction, but failed and was pulled out by neighboring Mobians who witnessed the chaos. Inside the fire, one of Julian's robots activated and dragged his master to a bomb shelter the scientist had built for obvious reasons. While he is pulling his master, a piece of equipment hooked onto Julian's leg, and as the robot grabbed Kintobor's severed arm, he could not get the device off, so he pulled it in with them. Inside the shelter, the robot checked the piece of technology, and is turned out to be one of Julian's older inventions, named the Roboticizer, which scans severed limbs and their amputated stubs and materializes an applicable prosthesis. However you would have to insert a viable metal source for the machine to mold the prosthesis out of.

The robot was ever so loyal to his master that he used himself as the metal to form the scientist's new arm, which attached itself to his stub. In these hours of solitude the negative energy of the Chaos Emerald slowly changed Julian into a bitter, angry man, feeling that Soren abandoned him when he needed him most, and that the only beings loyal to him were his own creations, demonstrated by the little robot's sacrifice. Julian broke out of the shelter, cursing Soren's name in anger and falling to the ground, the site completely devoid of any life. He then found the glowing Chaos Emerald, buried in ashes and soil, and picked it up. In its reflection he saw his name tag in reverse, which read "Ivo Robotnik" and then declared that he would use the emerald's power to take over the world and show everyone the same disregard and contempt that he feels they showed him since no one searched or concerned themselves with his survival. He threw his nametag down and gave himself the new identity of Doctor Ivo Robotnik, super genius and angered soul, intent on bringing Mobius to its knees.
